ive-sa success in amerika ? ★ some musings ... ★

many of you have already seen, but was intending to share this anyway . endless , endless thanks to ladyli for inviting me to take part in this video with such other iconic gals (who are also my inspiration!) & sharing my view as a western gyaru ★

i am no make-up or hair expert , so whatever opinions or viewpoint i take is often from the point of being in a successful gyaru-sa . there's been questions about how *DIAMOND* manages hater drama , inside drama , criticism, lack of community support , lack of event attendance , lack of financing & funds for events , lack of immediate communication with farther members in a national sa , lack of gross amounts of free/available time XD

what i did not say in the video was , yes , i helped to found *DIAMOND* one starry Sunday night on the walk of fame in hollywood back in july 2008 ; but i also was a developing member of the 2nd officially announced gyaru-sa in the states back in 2006 , calulu lovelies . the climate of gal-circles was much different back then . the interest in gal was raw , based primarily on the more extreme styles of kaa-tan's yamanba , romanba , ANGELEEK banba & manba , extreme himegyaru as the definitive & alternative contrast , & orange skin & hair for gyaru as seen in EGG magazines , bgyaru & the myth of bibinba ; & exposure was limited to other people's trips to japan , magazines , jp blogs , some exposure to parapara , videos online ; though the circulation on this was quite limited , & hardly as vast as the networks of FB , tumblr , blogger , twitter & youtube have allowed media & info to spark like wildfire this & last year . most of the gal-circles were online , & RELENTLESS criticism consistently bashed these groups as internet circles .

so in this infant stage of american gyarusa-dom , style & offline activity were the key points of legitimizing your gyaru-sa as authentic ----what are absolute musts for western gyaru-sa today some 3 years later . so when people ask me how *DIAMOND* has managed to take off / stay together / have somewhat successful meets , it hasn't always been so . i was stuck in this internet stage of gal-circle-dom from about 2006-2009 . out of 18 collective members in calulu lovelies from maryland (katsu-n ♥) , california (val, gara, parit, later michi), indiana (kaizo) , pennsylvania (xiao) , texas (jenn), new jersey (gina) , florida (ashley, chris, lacy) , michigan (later members) , washington (bambi) , new york (rin-hime ♥) , in 2008 , only 4 members actually made it across the country---actually , i was the only one who made it across the country to visit the eastern gals---for a meet at otakon in baltimore , where we met the illustrious Iffy-tan of BT . i had spent 5+ hundreds on this trip , screwing up & refixing the dates of my flight mostly ; but the point made is that even at this stage , you were either desperate to prove your circle & fly across the country for a simple meet at a convention with 3 other members , or you were stuck online spending your free time browsing pictures of ANGELEEK & fighting / engrossed in the bashing going on against your circle . i chose the former , & have done so ever since . i don't feel any nobler by it . am i saying that everyone can spend ludicrous amounts of money on a whim for something like this , whether void or profound in purpose ? no . would they even want to ? do i find it irrational & completely unreasonable spending such an exorbitant amount of money for something , in retrospect , futile ? i'm hardly an idealist /fanatic & hardly recommend anyone do the same , even now . mind you , i'm not rich either , with disposable amounts of cash ; i don't come from money , pay rent & thousands of other bills like anyone else , slave away full-time , & have been on my own for about 5 years now . i am not sure what ambition it is that drives me to spend money to coordinate events & work with sponsors & produce these nights at venues with my gals & make this national gyaru-sa happen instead of being in a nago-sa , as so many beautiful & successful circles are (many of my idols belong to these modelesque nago's as well) . but , since we are talking about event-sa , financial commitment & avoidance of online drama are two pillars that have today made our current gyaru-sa somewhat successful as a national circle .

The luxury of "being together" in a place is simply not the only reason for success . many people say "we don't have the resources" as though these things have just fallen into our lap . GYARU as a fashion or general pop culture is still a very , very small chip that has yet to crack its name into the j-fashion world we've imported into america. many events at conventions , vending & shops are still tailored to the heavily established lolita & vkei genres . it takes dedication , a lot of heartbreak , a lot of perseverance , & a lot of balls to start establishing the gyaru-connections and syncing the wires to spark the scene to life here . even if gyaru has been normalized commercially in japan , it still hasn't swept the american j-fashion scene , despite the influx on "newbies" we see float into everyday-gyaru every week . this is why in the video i ask that we support local events as well as overseas brands & products , difficult to obtain though they may be (though quite easy compared to 2006-2008) . the more we support the scene here , the more we can indulge in taking part in doing what we love . yes , not everyone wants to hang out in a gyaru-sa or go to the gyaru event or sit around talking about gyaru-ness ; but there is a large portion of gals that would love , even once , to live that image of sitting among your circle , feeling at home with people you've never met across the country because you're all connected by your love for a concept abstract to this country's projected pop culture & a passion representative of the fun of another life & another place across the ocean that you would still like to call home for the void that it fills in the everyday mundanaeity of routine and culture in the states . no one should be made to feel stupid for wanting camaraderie over such a thing or considering it a 'lifestyle' or a part of their life if they take it beyond the fashion & make it that way . it can be either lifestyle or fashion , depending what the individual creates of it .

O_o went on a tangent .

MINNIE x MUSE ♥ ♥ tiny bit of promo info & photos .

someone PLEASE tell me my feed works now >0>
basically i read that too much faulty coding can prevent a blog to syndicate
properly , so after sacrificing my arduous layout & coding , i'm settling for this
U.U haven't had the chance yet to design a new header , but i have a lot of spunky
sexy ideas , hope you will like it when it is done !!

Forever 21 hosts a MINNIE MUSE launch party tonight to
celebrate its first celebrity muse Forever 21 TWIST collaboration starring
super-girly ( & super stylish ;D ) MINNIE MOUSE

With the launch party tonight , I couldn't resist but read up on the inspiration
behind the concept . The line is inspired by the designer's/Minnie Mouse's fashion
journeys through major metropolises & fashion capitals like London , Tokyo , &
Paris . She imagines the girls that wear the new line to be much like the American
icon that inspired it : girly , wholesome , but totally fun-loving . Special art &
design for Minnie have been freshly produced to present a long-legged & glamorously
coy Mouse that's never been presented before . Since some of her favourite trends
this season are bows & polka dots , the Disney icon makes the perfect celeb muse to
embrace the fashion season & upcoming holidays ♥ Stationary & gift items will also
be available with the launch of the new line .

if they're selling BOW & EARS THIS BIG , I'd be the first , pre-order XD

We already know Minnie is an incredibly popular icon in GYARU fashion , so
hopefully XXI will offer an easy & super-cute motif to add to your coordinates .
They already have a lot of items released & available to view ; but I do hope they
take a bolder & louder approach to this character collaboration .

Does anyone else have any more information regarding the MINNIE MUSE TWIST ?

I also want to extend a BIG BIG THANK-YOU to my followers !
especially those that were open with my throwback-cutthroat-western-gal-days post .
i've been having so many problems with my feed , so thank you for being patient &
continuing to watch my blog , my gal-circle & the western gal scene (especially in
north america!) . for that , i also hope to plan a giveaway soon . however , i want
it to be a super sweet package which i'll have planned for a special occasion .
just to give my thanks ! if i could , i'd send out a package to everyone & all my friends XDD

trashy vs. classy --- old generation vs. new

aside from blonde & weight loss , gals tend to ask me about how the scene has changed , probably because i'm an old granny , but mostly since i've been involved in the western [ particularly american ] gal community since about 2006 when i joined & co-led the 2nd ever ( online ) western circle ★ CALULU LOVELIES ★ . from then until now , i am an active observer . let me tell you , you think gyaru-secrets & everyday-gal are harsh ; back then it was CUT-THROAT .

nowadays tons of new girls flood into the communities everyday with a touch of white make-up & XXI dresses & get by . back then , everyone tumbled into the GANGURO communities in leis from Halloween stores , white paint , & "every man for themselves" attitudes . the community was TINY . everyone knew everyone who posted & dominated the communities , there was a healthy helping of bashing from elitists that the gal community hardly tolerates now , new people weren't really that welcome & were mocked as "cosplayers", & this because there was no mention of JELLY or AGEHA , but everyone knew KAA-TAN & found their way to GAL through ganguro & yamanba . see how many people can answer when you ask them who KAA-TAN was now .

GAL has really grown up from its ganguro & yamanba days , as much in America as in Japan . there is something remarkably more sophisticated about not just the clothes , but make-up techniques for particular contour & shape of your face ( for Japanese girls to look "western" , & for western girls to look GAL ) , & hair-treating techniques . open your old EGG magazines from only 2-3 years ago , & blonde hair was orange & yellow at best , make-up in bolder colours but still less dramatic of a lash & eye effect . the best of gyaru fashion was pretty much clubwear . the perfection of today was a dream back then , when hair that was bleached , coloured & teased to death was the norm for acceptance , as well as the faux-tan look to contrast the white & black raccoon look that painted your face . summarily , there is a refinement in taste , hair styling & make-up ; the girls in the ameri-gal community want to be beautiful GAL dolls instead of the wild "rebels" of before .

to overly-generalize , gal in japan is now massively produced everywhere ; finding coordinates in america is also much easier since the ameri-gal scene moved away from yamanba & started following the more "chic & fashionable" model of gal style today . but PUTTING coordinates together is an altogether different story from being able to find the pieces . as already mentioned , your basic mall shop like XXI carries tons & tons of easily gal pieces ; but when posted in everyday-gal , these outfits don't necessarily come alive . they are too safe , too average , lacking perhaps a true eye for accessories & coordinating or the total package of hair , make & nails that really define GAL apart from average western fashion & can make even the most "casual" outfits still scream GAL . many forget that their "casual" outfits are not "casual GAL" outfits , that even on a lazy day , there is something about the whole presentation that must fall into the space of what is GAL for it to be considered such .

i am merely pointing out what i believe to be "safe" fashion , the fashion that has drawn in hundreds+ of girls who believe "gal" & "kawaii" fashion is just merely looking cute ( & some not even knowing why people keep talking about japan in these communities ) believing that their XXI outfit & unstyled hair & "natural" make automatically renders them applause & acceptance into the GAL community , only to be disappointed by less than fanfare . but there are also gals who have seen what gal straight from shibuya looks like ( outside of the sweet Liz Lisa , Tralala , Cecil McBee variety ) : big perfectly curled wigs , long dazzling agejo hostess dresses , huge "tranny" thigh-high boots , layers & layers & layers & layers ..... & then even more layers of make-up , head-to-toe BRAND , garters & thigh-highs , booty shorts & microskirts . but for the girls who attempt to pull off those looks here , or who admire the looks of brands like MA*RS , or who choose to wear more make-up than the average , they're faced with the issue of being called hookers & drag queens : "TRASHY", is the word . think of how many ridiculous secrets have called ASHLEY a hooker or prostitute for getting GAL style down to a science . even my own circle has been called "trashy" for make-up & fishnets while out partying , as opposed to what we actually do & the kind of girls we are . instead of seeing more than popteen frills or the too-casual "mode" that flies under the radar , critics forget it's also these sexual & stunning girls that stand out the most , scream GAL , draw the attention & admiration for their supreme confidence , & reflect best the difference between being a western girl & being a western GAL .....

i've no resolution to this thought , really . it only occurred to me as i was preparing to post on the brand CHEER that I began to consider what an obvious GAL brand it was , though perhaps for american gals , too "trashy" .

style.update--† STREET SWEETS + & 6%dokidoki fashion show !

saturday, 11 september, was the SWEET STREETS II art exhibition &
opening party, featuring a 6%DOKIDOKI fashion show, hosted by our friends BUBBLEPUNCH **
attended with a couple other *DIAMONDS* & a bunch of lolita, which,
of course, MIKI--robin's friend visiting from nihon--says you'd never see elsewhere x3

【09/11】 SWEET STREETS 2 Art Exhibition & Opening Party !!

the show itself is quite extraordinary & really pops off the walls;
i found this to be the most compelling piece

the show pushed the scene forward ; the director opted for 6 models--
YUKA & VANI, plus 4 contestants that won the spot--in 6 set outfits that
performed whimsical dance as opposed to a straight line walk; very popular
with the crowd & really won them over ☆

& now for some compromised quality for photos from my phone 8D (& other sources!)

so ! in light of my recent ☆ WC ☆ POST --->
